The government has said that all local authorities with responsibility for Childcare should produce a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment by April 2008.

The idea behind Childcare Sufficiency Assessments is to ensure that quality affordable childcare is available to all parents to allow them to enter or remain in training or employment. In turn, the government sees the outcomes of this being greater social equality, a reduction in child poverty and greater economic growth. Erskine believes that, in principle, sufficient childcare is an essential part of improving equality and opportunity in this country and it fits with our mission to ‘improve the quality of life for all in our communities’.
We are therefore keen to hear from local authorities who are wanting a first-rate research organisation to help them complete either part or the whole of their Childcare Sufficiency Assessment. We are already working with several authorities helping them to understand and deliver the demand and supply elements of the assessment and, because we are more than just a research company, we are able to help with implementation and strategy too.
