What we do

Play strategies

The need for safer and more stimulating places for children and young people to play has been emphasised in many government documents and agendas including, Every Child Matters, the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child and, most notablely in Frank Dobson’s review ‘Getting Serious About Play: A Review of Children’s Play’. The latter led to the Big Lottery’s strategic funding programme of £155 million for play provision in England.

Children playing by the sea

In November 2005 the Big Lottery Fund allocated money to each council in England to not only increase appropriate and quality play provision but effectively increase the awareness and importance of play for children and young people . All councils will have to bid for this money. As part of the bid to the Big Lottery Fund, all councils will have to submit a Play Strategy, a portfolio of play projects and a fully completed application form.

Erskine are experts in play, understanding policy, project management and engaging with essential stakeholders including children, young people and their parents.

We have helped councils raise £4,357,099 from the Big Lottery by helping them develop their Play Strategies, their portfolio of play projects, lottery bids and their application forms.
