About

Masterplanning and the built environment

The area of regeneration is in greatest need of brave, powerful and clear thinking is the development of our rural and urban built environment.

Erskine has single-mindedly set out to change the way places are made. Our belief is that local communities (that includes often forgotten businesses) must be involved in the creation and stewardship of high quality buildings and spaces. If this happens, these spaces will better suited to their uses, last longer and be the subject of great civic pride.

We don’t believe the current way of approaching masterplanning works at all. Managing the built environment process is a unique challenge that is only now emerging as one that requires its own expertise. For a long time these projects (from children’s centres to city masterplanning) have been the preserve of architects, urban designers, planners and developers.

We have developed a new way called beyond masterplanning which addresses the issues, creating masterplans and built environment projects that really work.

If you would like to know more about how we would approach your built environment project contact Simon Campbell.
